Notice at the Microsoft Windows 7 edition comparison site ( ) that one of the features that Home Premium lacks over Pro and Ultimate is "Windows XP Mode". because that is the difference between the Win 7 flavors. you might not be able to accomplish this with your Home Premium installation of Windows 7 (I have Windows 7 Professional installed).
I have installed the drivers (Vista 圆4 drivers in R194010 and R194011) just fine and I have cleared the "PCI" devices out of the "Other devices" list with this effort. You having the Home Premium version shouldn't make a difference with the BIOS, so I am hoping if I find something it will benefit both of us - I'll search with that in mind. well they had an older driver yet! I'll keep poking around and keep in touch here. I searched via Google and came up with one of those "driver" websites that proclaims they have drivers for "everything". hope your machine is OK after the exercise.īe forewarned.
I kept poking at all the info provided at the Dell forum and by the end of the workday I was relizing it's not a solution - I have inquiry in there to see what experience people had because there are people saying it "worked!" but when I looked those patches up they are even older than my A10 patch level! So, sorry you headed down that path with my misdirection. Sorry for not getting back on R194010 and R194011.
I updated to the A15 BIOS but still I have the conflict with the two PCI devices, as you also list here. My BIOS before my work yesterday was at A10. My machine is an Optiplex 755 is a Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz - I have installed Windows 7 Professional (I am verifying that the Vista drivers work for those of us in Windows 7 land - the posters at the Dell Community forum seemed to be indicating so.) Take a look at the "Compatibility" section - there we are, OptiPlex 755! And yes, they are for Vista, but they work for Windows 7, too - at least they have been reported to have worked for the posters at the Dell forum referenced above.
